Paul du Plessis
Attorney
Paul obtained his BLC and LLB degrees from the University of Pretoria. He served his articles at Savage Jooste and Adams where his interest in personal injury litigation began. He was admitted as an attorney in 1996 and started Paul du Plessis Attorneys focusing on Road Accident Fund and medical malpractice litigation.
The firm has since represented successful claimants in milestone medical negligence cases in the High Court, specializing in blindness, Retinopathy of Prematurity and Cerebral Palsy cases.
Over the past 25 years, he has gained vast experience in personal injury law and is passionate about cases where children have been injured or disabled. His exceptional track record in complicated cases is owed to the extraordinary level of practical and theoretical research done with every case. He has regularly given presentations to legal and medical professionals as well as the Black Lawyers Association. As a member of the South African Medico-legal Society, Paul also keeps abreast of the latest developments in medical negligence litigation, both from an attorney and the medical professional’s perspectives.
Sarnah Farrell
Attorney
After qualifying as a registered nurse and midwife in 1997, Sarnah went on to specialize in advanced neonatal science. She started her career as a Professional Nurse at Steve Biko Academic Hospital and followed her passion for specializing in Neonatal Intensive Care. In 2006 she obtained a Bachelors Degree in Nursing with distinction at the University of Pretoria. Her 20 years of practical experience, in both private and public institutions, gave her an in-depth understanding of health care in South Africa.
Sarnah’s compassion for people and the importance of medical care motivated her to obtain an LLB degree in June 2015. She commenced her articles of clerkship at Paul du Plessis Attorneys in 2016 and was admitted as an attorney in 2018.
Zandrey Nel
Paralegal
Zandrey joined Paul du Plessis Attorneys in June 2019 as our general and administrative clerk. He is currently completing his LLB degree through part-time studies at UNISA, which allows him to combine the practical and theoretical knowledge of the legal processes involved in personal injury litigation.
