A bionic eye has been developed to allow some blind people to see.  This video shows how a man who is blind due to retinitis pigmentosa (RP) receives an implant onto his retina which then sends impulses to his brain’s sight centre, allowing him to see an image of what is in front of him.Image result for second sight implant

Image result for second sightThe company, Second Sight reports on its website that the technology has been developed for RP sufferers, but that they hope to develop technology that will help people who are blind due other causes. Hopefully they will be able to help some of our many clients who are blind due excessive oxygen received while a premature baby and now have retinal detachments from retinopathy of prematurity.
